Quality Ingredients, Close to Home
At Central Smith, we are proudly Canadian – and that pride shines through from the very beginning of our mix process. We use fresh, high-quality ingredients, many of which are sourced locally. Our ice cream is crafted with cream from Mitchell, Ontario, and sugar refined in the Greater Toronto Area.
This year, we have made the switch to using bulk cream, which has brought many significant benefits to our company – environmentally, economically, and operationally. Our newly installed cream silos receive cream once a week, streamlining our process, and helping us to produce your favourite Central Smith flavours with even greater consistency. If you’re visiting our plant, check out our silos – you might even catch a cream delivery in action!
Stirring Up Something Sweet
Using these high-quality ingredients, we prepare our ice cream mix in our dedicated mixing facilities. We have multiple mixing tanks that support efficient production and help us meet demand. Once mix is prepared, it is pasteurised and homogenized to ensure safety and consistency. It is then transferred to our aging tanks, where it stays overnight before moving to the production floor.
Where Flavour Comes to Life
Flavours, inclusions, and ripples are added to mix as it is pumped into tubs, sundae cups, or bars on our production lines. Our production team works hard to keep things running smoothly and efficiently, all while maintaining a strong commitment to quality.
In addition to crafting products under the Central Smith brand, we also partner with other companies through co-packing. This means we produce ice cream under their brands.
Frozen to Perfection
At the end of our production lines, products make their way into our freezer – the final stop before its ready for the world. Here they are palletized and stored. After a hold period, each batch undergoes quality testing to ensure every scoop meets our standards, from taste and texture to packaging integrity.

During the busy summer months, our shipping team moves hundreds of pallets every week to satisfy the taste buds of customers from coast to coast. Whether it’s food service, restaurants, or scooping parlours, Central Smith can be found in communities all across the country.
