Congratulations to Ian, Business Citizen of the Year
We are extremely proud of Ian Scates, the president of Central Smith for his award from the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce as Peterborough's Business Citizen of the year. Ian was among many other local entrepreneurs and local businesses nominated and is proud to be apart of such a wonderful community like Peterborough.
Ian helps us drive each day to raise the bar and reach our mission which is to provide the best customer experience while ensuring quality, service and innovation in our products.
Ian has been working at Central Smith for 41 years. He first came to help his father (James Scates) when the family purchased the business in 1978. In 1979, Ian came to help for the summer but now likes to call it the "longest summer ever"!
He has done it all; from driving trucks, making mix, fixing every piece of machinery and organizing order systems and anything logistics. Ian's passion for Central Smith and small business is captivating. We are so lucky to have him as our business leader.
