Central Smith Creamery is Canada’s leading manufacturer of ice cream. We ship coast to coast from our facility in Peterborough, Ontario, and have been producing ice cream since 1904! Originally established as a dairy co-op for local farmers in 1896, our experience and dedication over generations has helped us establish ourselves as leaders in the industry.

In 1978, Central Smith was taken over by the Scates family and it has just started the third generation of this business. Being family owned, you can guess we’re all about family here. We have recently increased our work force to 52, adding 12 new talented staff since January. We have employees who have been here for more than 30 years! We treat our employees like family and care about our customer’s and their businesses, that’s why we want to create this blog as a tool for your to better your business and maximize your profits using ice cream.

We’ll be providing you with ice cream recipes and “how-to’s” such as, how to scoop the perfect cone, and how to pair ice cream with the perfect piece of pie or cake. We’ll show you how to make the most delicious milkshake, sundae, and even how to make a classic banana split! The possibilities are endless with ice cream. We’ll also offer healthy alternatives such as gluten-free, nut-free, non-dairy and no sugar added alternatives for you to try with our products.

We’ll provide information on our values and quality here at Central Smith. We’ll demonstrate the ways we use sustainable methods to produce our products and take suggestions on new and innovative ways to improve and protect our planet.
