Valentine’s Day Recipe: Waffles and Ice Cream with Goji Syrup

          Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and what better way to charm that special someone than with this treat! Waffles are so versatile and can be served as a surprise breakfast in bed or a romantic dessert to end the night. Put your own spin on this recipe and make it your own.

          This recipe was created to put a decadent twist on a classic dish! This dessert is versatile and can be served in a restaurant or an easy recipe to try at home.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 scoops of Central Smith French Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Your favourite waffles (from scratch, pre-made mix, or frozen!)
  • ½ cup goji berries
  • 1 cup water
  • ¾ cup honey
  • Maple syrup
  • Garnish with berries, chocolate, powdered sugar, put your own twist on things!

PREPARATION

Follow your favourite waffle recipe from scratch, review your pre-made mix instructions or defrost and cook your frozen waffles.

Goji Berry Syrup

1. Using a saucepan, add your water honey and berries.

2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then simmer and stir for 6-7 minutes or until the honey has dissolved.

3. Remove from heat and let it cool.

4. When room temperature, purée liquid using blender until mixture is smooth.

5. Pour mixture through strainer and refrigerate until serving.

          Arrange your waffles, top with 3 scoops of Central Smith French Vanilla ice cream, and add your desired toppings. We like to add chocolate, maple syrup, berries and top with goji syrup.

This is an easy and delicious dish to serve as a dessert or specialty breakfast. Enjoy!
