Sherbet vs. Sorbet - What's The Difference?
When visiting an ice cream shop, restaurant or even strolling down the frozen dessert aisle at the grocery store, your options are endless! With so many choices, it can be hard to tell the difference between them.
While both our sorbets and sherbets are delicious, what sets the two frozen desserts apart?
Sorbet is a delicious frozen dessert, typically made without milk! Sorbet is made with fruit and sweetened water. It is a lighter alternative to ice cream and a perfect option for those who are lactose intolerant, sensitive to dairy or looking for a light treat.
We have worked hard to re-formulate our existing sorbets and introduced two new flavours in 2022! Central Smith now offers FOUR non-dairy sorbets: Blue Raspberry, Peach, Strawberry and Lemon Lime.
Now that we understand what sorbet is... What is sherbet?
Similar to sorbet, sherbet is made with fruit and sweetened water but it also includes a small amount of milk. Because sherbet still contains milk, it is not considered a non-dairy dessert. Sherbet is a great middle ground between ice cream and sorbet!
We have a great sherbet line up at Central Smith. We offer FIVE sherbet options: Lime, Raspberry, Orange, Watermelon and Rainbow! Watermelon sherbet is unique to Central Smith with a distinct watermelon sherbet base and even includes chocolate "seeds!" Rainbow sherbet is a tri-coloured dessert made up of raspberry, orange and lemon sherbets!
So what's the bottom line?
Depending on what you're looking for, either dessert is delicious. Sorbets are marketed as an option for our non-dairy or lactose intolerant fans. Sherbets are enjoyed no matter the age. Both of our sherbets and sorbets are so creamy, it's hard to believe you're not eating ice cream!
