Charitable Giving - Five Counties Children's Centre

As a small business, we are proud to be heavily involved in our community! Each year, we run a charitable giving campaign at Central Smith. This year’s organization, chosen by the employees of Central Smith, is Five Counties Children’s Centre!

An internal People Pillar was formed at Central Smith in 2020 and one of their main priorities is charitable giving. The People Pillar consists of employees throughout all levels of the company to ensure all voices are heard. The People Pillar created an internal poll to decide on which organization we would support in 2021. There were lots of deserving organizations in the running but one stood out among the rest. An overwhelming number of staff voted for Five Counties – an organization near and dear to many. Staff shared their personal stories about how Five Counties has specifically touched their families, bringing personal meaning to our campaign.

Five Counties Children Centre is an organization dedicated to working with and supporting families to provide innovative care for youth with physical, developmental and communication needs. Their Mission is to enhance the youth’s independence and enrich their quality of life while providing families with the tools to make a difference. Five Counties works with youth and their families to build on their abilities and promote their role in our community. Five Counties Children Centre has supported children in Haliburton, Northumberland, Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes for over 45 years.

Since our campaign kicked off in April, our People Pillar has worked tirelessly to get staff, customers, and our community involved in various initiatives. These initiatives include bake sales, cake auctions, 50/50 draws, Master’s Pool, raffles, “Do It For Dad” Father’s Day campaign, “Do It For The Kids” Five Counties Day, and $2 Donation Cards sold in our parlour.

Our Central Smith team and our community have truly rallied together to raise just under $4000 towards our $5000 goal by the end of this year!
