Central Smith Turns 125!

Central Smith is 125 years old this year! We are celebrating our birthday in style. To put our age in perspective, we’ve compiled a list of 10 things we are older than.

1. Air Conditioning

Invented in 1902, Central Smith was around before AirCon.

2. Vacuum

Invented in 1901, you could visit Central Smith’s farmer’s co-op and purchase quality cheese and butter before you could replace your broom!

3. Radio

Invented in 1906, Central Smith advertising was mainly word of mouth before radio broadcasting was around.

4. Coffee Filter

Invented in 1908, you’d have to use a sock to brew your coffee before visiting Central Smith until coffee filters were invented.

5. Neon Lights

Invented in 1910, our parlour would look very empty without our neon ice cream and heart lamps!

6. Sliced Bread

Invented in 1928, Central Smith is literally older than Sliced Bread!

7. Frozen Food

Invented in 1924, Central Smith didn’t introduce our signature ice cream right away. Until then, as a farmer’s co-op you could get cheese and butter!

8. Internet

Invented in 1969, you had to come down to the factory door to place your order! This was before Shopify was invented.

9. Theory of Relativity

Published in 1905, Central Smith is older than E = mc²!

10. Seat Belts

Invented in 1959, if you visited Central Smith before then, you didn’t have a seat belt!
